How to Be Great at Healthy Food

How to Be Great at Healthy Food

Around 2011, I met some investors to help expand my last juice company. Frank, the lead investor, introduced me to Bob, who was initially a junior partner but later became the one who bought me out in 2019. Before investing, Bob conducted a thorough investigation into my background for any criminal records or bankruptcies. I came up clean, which puzzled me; he could have simply asked, and I would have been completely honest. The truth is, I had nothing to hide—I was squeaky clean and innocent. If the roles were reversed, I would have never been so crass as to investigate a hard working man like myself. Maybe it was my tattoos or maybe he had something to hide himself, therefore he suspected everyone else!

One key to success in the food business is ensuring that your investors are genuinely passionate about the lifestyle and products, and that they consume what you offer. It’s crucial to find investors who will never compromise on quality and purity for profit. They must be kind and compassionate to hourly and corporate staff alike. This can be challenging, as desperation for cash might lead you to make deals that feel like selling your soul. If the devil were real, I imagine he’d prefer organic produce and fresh food, just like any wise leader would. Only a fool would taint their product for profit.

1. COMMITMENT TO PLANT-BASED PRODUCTS AND ECO-FRIENDLY PACKAGING (Objective)
We are 100% plant-based, refraining from incorporating animal-based ingredients such as cheese, milk, eggs, or sushi into our products. Our unwavering commitment extends to eliminating single-use plastic, embracing sustainable glass, and aluminum packaging. Through our loyalty program, customers can conveniently return glass containers, promoting a fair and affordable redemption system. This shift not only aligns with environmental concerns but also responds to societal pressures.

2. PRODUCT PURITY THROUGH ALL ORGANIC PRODUCE AND NO PROCESSED INGREDIENTS (Objective)
Our dedication to purity is evident in the transparency of our operations. From on-demand formulas and juice shots to displaying the juicing process before customers, we prioritize organic, non-processed ingredients. Maintaining 100% organic produce ensures the highest quality, avoiding deceptive practices employed by some competitors who falsely claim USDA Organic status.

3. COMPASSIONATE MANAGEMENT AND FOCUS ON CULTURE (Subjective)
Our commitment to compassionate management places the well-being of our team above all. Recognizing that team interactions with guests are paramount, we prioritize creating a positive culture. By treating team members with fairness and dignity, we ensure a happy and motivated staff, reflecting positively on our products and overall business.

4. TRANSPARENCY AND ENGAGING "THEATER" IN OPERATIONS (Objective)
Visual transparency is key to our customer experience. Our unique produce-washing machines and open kitchens provide customers with a captivating view of the product creation process. Ice chest displays replace unattractive refrigerators, enhancing the overall visual appeal. Clear product labeling further emphasizes our commitment to transparency and customer education.

5. VARIETY IN PRODUCT OPTIONS, INCLUDING COOKED FOODS (Objective)
Distinguishing ourselves from competitors, we offer a diverse menu that includes cooked items such as quiches, hot soups, and make-and-serve burritos. Our commitment to freshness ensures that soups are always freshly made, avoiding shortcuts like prepackaged powder components used by some competitors.

6. IN-HOUSE BAKERY WITH PLANT-BASED AND PURE ITEMS (Objective)
Our in-house bakery produces plant-based, additive-free items, maintaining the same standards of purity upheld in our juices, smoothies, tonics, and elixirs. This approach sets us apart from competitors whose baked goods often contain unhealthy components.

7. OPTIONS FOR BETTER PRICING (Objective)
Recognizing the cost challenges associated with plant-based offerings, we introduce 2.5-ounce juice shots priced at $5.00. This initiative aims to make health and wellness more accessible, allowing individuals to join the movement without breaking the bank."
